“I’m back home from Torhamn after the coaching experience of a lifetime!
Before I get into my impressions, let me start you off with some fun facts: We had epic 22+ knot conditions all weekend with more than 20 hours on the water in just 3 days, and a team of 19 juniors that absolutely shattered their comfort zones, taking their riding way past the next level.
With this 2016 installment of the Junior Freestyle Camps I’m about halfway into my fourth season of full time windsurf coaching, and I can tell you that it’s a pretty rare sight to see a whole groups of kids go from barely being able to hold on to their sails one day, to ripping fully planing runs in the foot straps and launching airs on the next. Then add the fact that the already advanced young adults and teenagers learnt and landed their first Forward Loops, Grubbys and Flakas riding side by side with these kids. I was fortunate enough to be in the middle of this, doling out high fives. That’s one for the books right there.
I would also like to emphasize that Torhamn is such an incredible spot, with the most dedicated and genuine people working so hard to maintain the opportunities for the local youth to surf and have fun together, even without any outside help. Thanks for letting me be a part of your incredible community. Can’t wait to see all of you again next year!”
